Mahindra has been testing the next generation Bolero- ‘Codenamed U301’ on Indian roads. For the first time, the interiors of the car have been snapped while testing in Coimbatore. Alongside the next Bolero, the S101 compact SUV has also been spotted testing. Both models are soon likely to get production body parts. The interiors of the next Bolero seem more premium than the current model.

The next generation Bolero will be offered in both sub-4 metre and seven-seater MPV styled versions. The sub-4 metre model will be priced competitively in the market, thanks to an excise duty benefits on the compact cars in India. The pictures suggest that the new model will get a new 3-spoke steering wheel, restyled centre console and instrument panel. It is also expected to get a touch-screen display for the infotainment system.

The next Bolero is expected to use the new hydroformed, ladder-on-frame chassis that also underpins the new Scorpio. This will result into better performance and handling. The spotted vehicle was heavily camouflaged; however, the boxy design with little curves expected will continue to be on offer. Other changes visible include roof rails, alloy wheels and side-step headlights. The next Bolero is expected to get the new 1.5-litre or a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units. It will rival against the likes of Tata Sumo and the Chevy Tavera.
