Mahindra & Mahindra has finally introduced its new mild hybrid system – ‘Intelli-hybrid’ – on the Scorpio SUV. Except the entry-level S2 trim, this new hybrid technology is available on all variants of the vehicle – S4+ S4 AWD, S6, S8, S10 2WD and S10 AWD. Prices of the Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid go up to Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai) for the top-of-the-line S10 2WD variant.
Similar to the existing ‘Micro-hybrid’ system, this new hybrid technology is an auto start-stop unit offering electrical assistance to the vehicle’s powertrain while driving. Besides the start-stop function, the Intelli-hybrid system has a larger capacity battery, brake energy recuperation and an integrated starter motor.
The starter motor not only provides a mild electrical assistance to the engine during certain driving conditions, but works as a battery charger alternator as well. However, this new hybrid technology doesn’t support all-electric running. The Intelli-hybrid system is being offered only on the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel powered Scorpio model. The power and torque figures of this oil burner stand at 120bhp and 280Nm respectively.

Mahindra Scorpio Intelli Hybrid Mileage
Mahindra claims that the ‘Intelli hybrid’ technology reduces engine’s fuel consumption up to 7% by providing it electric power assistance during acceleration. This makes Scorpio Intelli hybrid more fuel efficient than the regular models.
