Mahindra Scorpio facelift

Mahindra is gearing up to launch the new Scorpio facelift in the Indian car market. The company’s dealerships across the nation have already started taking pre-bookings for the SUV. The vehicle is reportedly to go on sale in the country on September 25, 2014.

Interestingly, the first three days of the bookings would be allocated for the existing Scorpio customers. The company aims to capitalize on the existing customer base of the SUV, which is around 4.5 lakh. The official bookings for new consumers would start from 18 September.

The new Mahindra Scorpio gets changes to both interiors and exteriors. Codenamed W 105, the new SUV sports new prominent grille flanked by new headlamps. The tail lamps of the SUV feature LEDs, which add to its sporty character. It gets more sculpted bumpers with wide air dams, while the bonnet, fenders and doors are all new.

The interiors of the Scorpio get some styling tweaks and are loaded with some additional features. The vehicle gets automatic climate control, chrome inserts, new infotainment system with big touchscreen which include a navigation system. It also gets rear view camera, all-new steering wheel and power windows switches are now placed on the doors instead of the centre console.

Under the bonnet is the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine, mated to an all-new 320MT five-speed transmission that produces 120bhp. The new Scorpio is likely to cost around Rs. 30,000 more than the outgoing model.
