New Mahindra Scorpio 2022 – More Details Emerge

Buoyed by excellent response for XUV700 & new Bolero Neo, Mahindra is now preparing a wide range of new models for the Indian market. The company has announced to launch 13 new utility vehicles including 8 new electric cars/SUVs. The next big launch from the homegrown automaker will be the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio 2022.

The new Mahindra Scorpio 2022 model will be launched in the first half of 2022, most probably around June-July. A new report claims that the new Scorpio will be offered as a 7-seater SUV; however, the company could also offer a 6-seater version. The six-seater SUV will have captain seats in the second row.

The next-gen Scorpio is reportedly to be equipped with features like 360 degree camera, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, LED lighting system, sequential turn indicators and an electric sunroof. The new model will also get 6 airbags, Terrain modes and connected car features.

The SUV will miss out on some features like panoramic sunroof, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and 10 speaker sound system. These features are only offered on the XUV700 SUV. Previous spy images suggest that the new Scorpio will have off-road drive mode selector, which could offer 4 off-road drive mode settings. The drive modes could include Rock, Snow, Mud and 4 High and 4 Low for 4WD system.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be significantly bigger and has more features than the outgoing model. It will be based on the new ladder-on-frame chassis that also underpins the new Thar lifestyle SUV. The new Scorpio will be offered with a de-tuned version of the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mHawk turbo engine that powers the XUV700 MX variant. This engine produces 155bhp and 360Nm of torque. It will also receive a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is likely to produce around 150bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Rear-wheel-drive layout will be offered as standard, while the top-spec model will get AWD system.
