We informed you earlier that Suzuki will launch the next-generation Jimny SUV in the global markets in 2018. If media reports are to be believed, Maruti is also planning to launch the new Gypsy in India. The next Jimny could be launched as the new generation Gypsy in the Indian market. The off-roader SUV has been leaked on internet ahead of its debut next year. Going by the pictures, it is visible that the small off-roader looks modern and better equipped, and it will be equipped with a host of customization options.
New Suzuki Jimny Leaked Online
The new Suzuki Jimny gets new looks and it appears completely different than the current car. Built on a solid ladder-on frame chassis, the new model gets the square-ish body and upmarket cabin. Design of the SUV looks like a mini Mercedes G-Wagon, and it features circular headlamps, flat roofline, upright grille, flat bonnet and flared wheel arches. Bumper mounted tail-lights and tail-gate mounted spare wheel gives it a retro styling.
The cabin of the new Jimny looks simple and features hard-touch plastic material all around. It also gets a touchscreen infotainment system, which is similar to other Suzuki cars. In fact, gear lever, buttons and the flat-bottom steering are sourced from Suzuki’s global cars. It is expected to be equipped with features like climate control, better seats, airbags and other modern techs.
If reports are to be believed, the new small SUV measure 3.67m in length and 1.60m in width. This SUV will get standard AWD layout and a low-range gearbox. The SUV is expected to get a 92bhp, 1.2-litre petrol and 110bhp, 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engines. The company could also launch the hybrid version of the car, which will get a 1.3-litre petrol engine with SHVS mild-hybrid technology. Both manual and automatic transmissions are likely on offer.
