2018 Suzuki Jimny Readies For Debut in October

Suzuki will unveil the new Jimny at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show which starts from October 25, 2017.

Suzuki will unveil the fourth generation Jimny at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show which starts from October 25, 2017, reports in media suggest. Much ahead of the official unveil, concrete details have already been revealed about the exterior and interior. Up front, the new Suzuki Jimny will receive circular headlamps, 5-slot grille and turn signals on each side. Bumper will be revamped and is likely to be positioned slightly higher.

At the side will be the trapezoidal wheel arches and the taillamps at the back will be set in the bumper, somewhat like Maruti Gypsy. The spare wheel will continue to be mounted on the tailgate. Read – All-New Maruti Alto In The Works

The 3-door model will feature a new design on the inside and new bits including a new steering wheel, Swift inspired HVAC dials, air vents reminiscent of the Ignis and a touchscreen infotainment unit along the lines of Suzuki’s Smartplay system. Check Out – Upcoming Maruti Cars In India

While details on the engine specs are still obscure, the model is expected to receive an automatic gearbox, most likely a CVT. Suzuki could use small petrol mills from its family of naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines ranging between 0.66-litre to 1.4-litre. The Boosterjet engine could be dropped though to keep pricing in check. While the ALLGRIP PRO all-wheel drive system will be carried over from the current model. According to reports in media, Suzuki’s Gujarat manufacturing unit could be the mother plant for the fourth gen Suzuki Jimny, though the company is likely to utilize the Iwata plant in Japan for the native market. That said, Suzuki is planning to launch new-gen Jimny in Japan around February 2018.
