Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch the long-awaited new-gen Santro hatchback in India in October 2018. The official bookings for the small car are reportedly to be commenced from October 10. The small car will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Tata Tiago. In fact, the new Santro will be Hyundai’s cheapest model in the country. This means that the Eon entry-level model will be discontinued from the market.

According to ACI, the new Santro will come equipped with several segment-first comfort and convenience features. The new model will retain the tall-boy stance and will be wider the previous Santro. The company is focusing on offering best-in-class rear comfort. Additionally, the new Santro will come equipped with segment-first rear air-conditioning vents. The higher variants of the new Hyundai Santro will be equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is also the biggest in its category. This system will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A reverse camera is also likely to be on offer. Dual front airbags and ABS with EBD will come as standard across the range.

The new Hyundai Santro will be powered by a revised 1.1-litre, 63bhp, Epsilon petrol engine that also powers the original Santro. Hyundai will tune this engine for better fuel efficiency. The new model will also come with an optional factory-fitted CNG kit. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
