New Hyundai Santro Receives Over 38,500 Bookings So Far
The AMT variants with in-house developed Smart Auto technology contribute 30% of the total sales.
Hyundai Motor India has announced its recently launched new-generation Santro hatchback has received over 38,500 bookings and 2,11,000 enquiries so far. The new Hyundai Santro 2018 has been favoured for its ‘modern stylish tall body design, new age technology, comfortable and premium cabin, all around safety and performance”, says the company.
The carmaker has also revealed that the AMT variants with in-house developed Smart Auto technology and CNG models contribute 30% and 18% of the total sales of the hatchback. The AMT and CNG are available only in the Magna and Sportz trims. While the Magna CNG and Sportz CNG are priced at Rs 5.23 lakh and Rs 5.64 lakh respectively, the Magna AMT and Sportz AMT cost Rs 5.18 lakh and Rs 5.46 lakh respectively. In October, the new Hyundai Santro 2018 outsold the Tata Tiago with margin of 986 units. While the former registered sales of 8,535 units, the latter recorded sales of 7,549 units. With the help of new Santro, the South Korean carmaker registered its highest ever domestic sales in month of October, 2018.
According to reports, the hatchback currently commands a waiting period up to 3 months. Rumour also has it that Hyundai India has temporarily halted bookings of the new Santro and will resume it early next year. However, there is no official word on the same.
The new Hyundai Santro 2018 carline is available with a 1.1L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s good enough for 68bhp and 99Nm of torque. The CNG-fitted model delivers power worth 59bhp and 84Nm of torque. Mileage figures of the hatchback stand at 20.3kmpl (petrol) and 30.5km/kg (CNG).
