New Hyundai Santa Fe Technical Details Revealed

After releasing the images last month, Hyundai has now revealed the engine details of the new Santa Fe SUV. Based on the new platform, the new Hyundai Santa Fe will come with petrol-electric and diesel engine options. It is based on the third-generation architecture, which underpins the US-market Sonata sedan.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe 2020 will come with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains for the first time. It features Hyundai’s new Smartstream 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled to a 60bhp electric motor and a 1.49kW lithium-ion battery. The combined power and torque output stands at 230bhp and 350Nm of torque. Both front- and four-wheel-drive versions will be on offer.

2021 Hyundai Santa Fe

The 4WD PHEV version will be offered in 2021. It features a 1.6-litre engine with a 91bhp electric motor to produce a combined output of 265bhp and 350Nm. The Santa Fe PHEV’s 13.8kWh battery pack is claimed to offer 64km per charge on the NEDC cycle. It will receive a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe’s 1.6-litre Smartstream petrol engine, which uses Hyundai’s newly developed Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology. The new engine is claimed to offer 4% higher performance and 5% higher fuel efficiency.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe 2020 will be powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This powertrain comes with reshaped camshaft, a higher-pressure injection system and aluminum block, which helps the brand to reduce 19.5% weight. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels or all-4 wheels via a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 202bhp of power and 441Nm of torque.

The new 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe will be launched in the European markets in the second half of this year. The new model won’t make its way to our market. The Korean automaker is considering the Palisade 3-row full-sized SUV for the Indian market.
