New Hyundai MPV Confirmed For India

New Hyundai MPV India

The South Korean carmaker recently rolled out the second-generation Hyundai Creta at an introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Talking on the sideline of the lunch event, the carmaker has revealed its plan to enter into MPV (multi purpose vehicle) segment. Currently, the company is studying the feasibility of the MPV space that has products like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova Crysta and newly-launched Kia Carnival.

As of now, we can’t confirm the price bracket and category of the new Hyundai MPV. If reports are to be believed, the South Korean carmaker will target the affordable Ertiga segment. Recently, a test mule of the Hyundai MPV was spotted in China. The model features a trapezoidal grille, sliding side doors and 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the new Hyundai MPV is likely to get a multi-function steering wheel with flat top and bottom, brown leather upholstery and separate AC vents for rear seat occupants. There will be a captain seat in the second row. Read – 5 Common Features of New Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos

Reports suggest that the new Hyundai MPV will be based on the Venue’s platform. It’s likely to be offered with two seating arrangements – 6-seats and 7-seats. It would be quite early to comment on its engines. Though, it might come with three powertrain options – a 1.0L turbo petrol, a 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.4L diesel. Both manual and automatic (7-speed DCT) gearbox could be offered on the MPV lineup.

The carmaker has confirmed that the new MPV won’t come this year. When launched, it will be placed against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. More details about the new Hyundai MPV are likely to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
