The new Hyundai Elantra facelift will hit Indian shores sometime next year.

The South Korean carmaker unveiled the new Hyundai Elantra 2019 facelift sporting sharper looks and several new features. Engine setup, however, remains unchanged. The updated version of the sedan will also make its way to India sometime next year. In the executive saloon space, the new 2019 Hyundai Elantra will continue to take on the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia and the upcoming new-generation Honda Civic.

For 2019 model year, the sedan receives subtle design changes along with a range of advanced active safety and convenience features. With all-new design, improved functionality and class-leading performance, the new Hyundai Elantra 2019 is likely to continue its high value proposition in the competitive premium sedan segment. The 2019 model year of the sedan will witness minor design upgrades (mostly at the front end). Though, the interior will be revised comprehensively with a host of advanced comfort and safety features. Carrying these changes, the new Hyundai Elantra 2019 facelift will surely be more expensive than the existing one that costs from Rs 13.71 lakh to Rs 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As mentioned above, no changes will be made under the hood. Similar to the current model, the new Hyundai Elantra 2019 facelift will come with a 2.0-litre VTVT petrol and a 1.6-litre VGT CRDi diesel engine options. While the former churns out a peak power of 150bhp with 190Nm of torque, the latter one delivers power worth 126bhp against 265Nm of torque. If the 2019 Hyundai Elantra will retain the existing engine setup, it will continue to return fuel economy of 14.59kmpl – 14.62kmpl (petrol) and 22.5kmpl – 18.23kmpl (diesel). Similar to the existing model, the new 2109 Hyundai Elantra facelift will use the more flexible chassis reinforced with 53% AHSS (advanced high-strength steel). The increased utilization of AHSS improves its torsional rigidity by 29.5% and bending strength by 25.3%. Furthermore, it enhances the overall handling and driving experience of the car. The Elantra sedan was the first Hyundai car to feature the Fluidic design philosophy in India. The new saloon carries a more evolved Fluidic design, but it is now designed on European lines.

With features like a revised hexagonal grille with chrome inserts, sweptback headlamps with dynamic bending lights, vertically stacked LED DRLs, new hood and front fenders, the face of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra seems to be inspired from the Genesis G90. The LED headlamps are reserved for the Limited and Sport trims. The sedan also receives newly-designed 16-17-inch wheels, while new 15-inch alloy wheels are restricted to the Eco trim. Dimensionally, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra continues to measure 4,570mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,440mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,700mm.

The cabin of the 2019 Elantra facelift is surely more up-market than the exiting model. Minor upgrades made to its design including new center cluster with air vents, AVN/Audio/Temperature controls and storage tray and a new instrument cluster and housing. Though, it comes with a host of features such as standard 5-inch colour audio system, steering mounted controls, BlueLink telematics and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. For entertainment purpose, there is an Infinity premium audio system with 8 speakers including a center channel and subwoofer. As far as safety is concerned, the saloon comes loaded with a new driver’s knee airbag, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), tire pressure monitoring system, vehicle stability management (VSM) and traction control. The optional offerings include blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear view camera, adaptive lighting, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and lane change assist. The new Hyundai Elantra 2019 facelift also gets Hyundai SmartSense that includes Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Alert and Safe Exist Assist.
