Korean automaker, Hyundai is all set to launch the long-awaited Aura compact sedan on January 21, 2020. The company is planning to showcase the second generation Creta SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. A new media report claims that the all-new Hyundai Creta will be unveiled on February 6, which is the second press day at the auto event. The SUV will be unveiled by Hyundai brand ambassador and Bollywood superstar ShahRukh Khan.
Previous media reports claim that the new Hyundai Creta will be launched by mid-2020; however, AutoCarIndia report claims that the launch is scheduled in mid-March 2020. The company will only unveil the exterior design of the 2020 Hyundai, and the interior will be revealed on a later stage.
It is based on the second-gen ix25, which has recently been launched in China. However, the new Hyundai Creta will receive India-spec design changes in the form of new cascading grille, differently styled alloy wheels and subtle changes inside the cabin. The SUV will feature the split headlamp and tail-lamp setup, along with squarish wheel arches and large panoramic sunroof. Adding to it, the SUV will source the large 10.25-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system from the Chinese ix25.
The all-new Hyundai Creta will share the mechanics with the popular Kia Seltos SUV. It will be offered with 3 engine options – a 115bhp, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol with CVT option, a 115bhp, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel with torque convertor option and a 140bhp, 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard.
The all-new Hyundai Creta is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh – Rs 17 lakh. It will directly rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the entry-level and mid-variants of the MG Hector, Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass. Great Wall Motors and Tata Motors are also planning to launch their respective mid-sized SUVs in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh price bracket.
