Hyundai has finally launched the new gen Verna sedan at an introductory price of Rs 10.90 lakh. It comes with all-new exterior and interior along with many segment-leading features and a new turbo petrol engine. It is expected that the new Hyundai Creta will share the interior and features from the new Verna sedan.
Hyundai is already selling the Creta facelift in select international markets. However, the Korean giant said that the new Creta will receive several India-specific design changes and interior. It was speculated to be launched sometime in 2023; however, the launch has been pushed to 2024.
The outgoing Creta is available with two engine options – a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. Hyundai has recently discontinued the 1.4L turbo petrol engine, as it won’t be upgraded to meet the BS6 Phase II emission norms. The new Hyundai Creta will receive a new 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that has recently been introduced in the new Verna and the Alcazar. This powertrain is capable of producing 160PS and 253Nm of torque, which makes it more powerful than the 1.4L turbo unit. The new Creta 1.5L turbo will be the most powerful SUV in its category.
The new Hyundai Creta is likely to share the interior styling with the new Verna sedan. It is expected to get the integrated dual display setup – one for the touchscreen infotainment screen and the other one for a digital driver display. It will also get new front seats with ventilation and heating functions. Moreover, the SUV is also likely to get Verna’s switchable climate and infotainment controls. The touch unit houses air conditioning controls and it can double up as the infotainment audio controls.
The India-spec new Creta will carry a different styling and won’t share styling cues from the facelifted model on sale in select international markets. Similar to the Verna, the new Hyundai Creta is expected to get a parametric jewel-type front grille and connected LED DRLs and tail-lights. The Creta Turbo variant will also receive few design and interior changes.
On the outside, the SUV will have dual tip exhausts, blacked-out elements, dual-tone paint scheme, blacked-out alloys, red brake calipers, etc. Adding to it, the Turbo variant could get all-black interior scheme with red inserts for sporty feel. The new Hyundai Creta will also share the ADAS tech with the new Verna. The Radar-Camera based ADAS tech offers features such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, front collision avoidance, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
