The second-generation Hyundai Creta went on sale in the third week of March, 2020. Despite the nationwide lockdown, the premium compact SUV managed to outperform its rivals and became the top selling car in May, 2020. Maintaining the sales momentum, the new Creta registered a total sales of 7,207 units in June, outselling the Kia Seltos that clocked sales of 7,114 units. However, the difference between these two was marginal (93 units).
With such perform, the 2020 Hyundai Creta became India’s top selling SUV and 2nd highest selling car in the previous month. In June 2020, Hyundai Motor India recorded a total sales of 21,320 units in the domestic market. The company also exported 5,500 units in Middle East, Latin America and South Africa. The new-generation Hyundai Creta, new Verna facelift and Venue subcompact SUV are the major contributors in the total sales of the company.
Talking about the 2020 Hyundai Creta, the new-generation model comes with multiple engine-gearbox combinations sourced from the Kia Seltos. The SUV lineup is available with three BS6-complint engines including a 115hp, 1.5L, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that comes with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox; a 115hp, 1.5L turbocharged diesel motor that can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox; and a 1.4L turbo-petrol unit, which is exclusively available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Despite sharing its powertrains with the Kia Seltos, the new Creta offers better mileage. The 1.5L petrol manual and automatic variants return a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.8kmpl and 17.1kmpl respectively. While the 1.5L diesel manual delivers 21.4kmpl, the 1.5L diesel automatic promises 18.3kmpl. The 1.4L turbo-petrol model is claimed to deliver fuel economy of 16.8kmpl. Besides the new engine setup, the new Hyundai Creta has witnessed significant cosmetic and feature changes.
