New Honda WRV petrol variant 1

Honda WR-V will get a more powerful 118bhp, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a CVT gearbox.

Honda WRV, the recently-launched sub-compact SUV from the Japanese carmaker, will soon receive a more powerful 118bhp, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the new Honda City sedan. With an aim to achieve sportier performance, Honda will improve its power-to-weight ratio more than 100bhp per tonne. This will make it direct competitor of the Fiat Abarth and Ford 1.0 EcoBoost EcoSport.

With high power figures, the new Honda WRV petrol variant will also go up against the hot-hatchs such as Volkswagen Polo GT, Abarth Punto and Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno RS. Since the current WRV lineup lacks automatic variant, the company might also introduce a 7-speed CVT gearbox with mounted paddleshifters. This new petrol variant will also get a sporty steering adding more to its drivability. With a powerful petrol engine and automatic autobox, the new Honda WRV variant will come as an option for buyers looking for easy yet exciting to drive compact SUV.
