New Honda CR-V To Be Positioned Between Hyundai Tucson & Toyota Fortuner
In terms of pricing, Honda is aiming to position the new CR-V somewhere between the Hyundai Tucson and the Toyota Fortuner.
Japanese carmaker, Honda will launch the new-gen CR-V SUV in the Indian market on October 9, 2019. For the first time, the Honda CR-V for India will come with a 7-seat option. Though, the five seat model will also be available at the time of launch. Adding to it, the new model will also receive a diesel powertrain which was missing in the previous model.
In terms of pricing, Honda is aiming to position the new CR-V somewhere between the Hyundai Tucson and the Toyota Fortuner. While Tucson is priced between Rs 18.29 lakh and Rs 25.73 lakh, the Fortuner is priced in the range of Rs 27.23 lakh – 32.93 lakh. The new CR-V will come in both petrol and diesel engines paired to a CVT and a 9-speed automatic gearbox respectively. The diesel version is powered by a 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine producing 118.3bhp and 300Nm of torque. It comes with both 2WD and 4WD system. On the flip side, the petrol version will get a 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine that churns out 151.8bhp and 189Nm of torque. The gasoline version is only available in 2WD layout. The new CR-V is claimed to return 14.4kmpl of mileage in petrol and 19.5kmpl in diesel. In fact, the diesel 4×4 model is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.3kmpl. In terms of proportions, the new CR-V sits right between the Tucson and the Fortuner. It is around 200mm shorter than the Fortuner and around 120mm longer than the Tucson. The 7-seater model offers a boot space of 150-litres, which can be expanded to 472-litres and 936-litres by folding the 3rd and 2nd rows respectively.
