Honda Cars India has confirmed that the fifth-generation City will make its India debut next month. The announcement has been made via a media drive invite that will take place from 16th to 18th March in Goa. The carmaker has also released the second teaser picture of the new Honda City 2020 revealing its full-LED headlamps, new front bumper, vertical fog lamps and lower air intake. The new radiator grille looks larger and more prominent than before.

The sedan’s new-generation model carries a bolder shoulder line running from headlamps to its taillights. The diamond cut alloys and subtle creases on the lower part of the doors look similar to the existing model. The roofline is relatively flatter than before. It also gets newly-designed rear bumper, boot line and sleeker LED combination lamps.

Compared to the current generation, the new Honda City 2020 is significantly longer (113mm) and wider (53mm). In fact, the new model sits 28mm lower and has 11mm shorter wheelbase. The India-spec new Honda City 2020 might also get a new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There could be some connected car features along with the improved climate control system, better seat comfort and more charging ports. The list of safety features will include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control and more.

2020 Honda City India Launch

Engine setup of the fifth-generation Honda City will include the BS6-compliant 1.5L i-VTEC petrol and 1.5L i-DTEC diesel. Transmission options are likely to remain unchanged (a 5-speed manual and a CVT (for petrol) and a 6-speed manual (for diesel). The new City might also be offered with the new 1.5L engine with Honda’s compact i-MMD mild hybrid technology.
