Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has rolled out the 2018 model year of its popular commuter – CB 125 Shine SP. The 2018 Honda CB Shine SP is available in three variants – Drum, Disc and CBS – priced at Rs 62,032, Rs 64,518 and Rs 66,508 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. At this price, the bike will continue to face competition from Hero Glamour, Bajaj Discover 125 and Yamaha Saluto. The updated model has witnessed new body graphics and features along with new low-maintenance seal chain ad HET tyres. Mechanically, the commuter remains unchanged.

The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer unveiled the updated CB 125 Shine SP at the Auto Expo 2018. The biennial event held in the second week of February in Greater Noida. Now, the commuter has finally gone on sale at a starting price of Rs 62,032 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 2018 model lineup is spread across three trims – Drum, Disc and CBS. While the drum and disc variants are priced at Rs 62,032 and Rs 64,518 respectively, the CBS variant is available at Rs 66,508. As mentioned in the beginning, the new Honda CB Shine SP retains the old engine mechanism. It uses the same 124.73cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor boosted with HET (Honda Eco Technology). It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the regular CB Shine. This BSIV compliant motor pushes out a peak power of 10.16bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.3Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. Transmission on offer is a 5-speed unit sending power to the wheel via a low-maintenance seal chain. This chain is claimed to have longer life (1.6 times) than the regular one. For performing suspension duties, there is telescopic fork upfront and spring loaded hydraulic type rear setup. Honda offers HET tyre (low rolling resistance tyre) on the bike. Composed of new compound, this tyre is claimed to reduce rolling resistance by 15-20% without compromising its grip performance. It also aids to the fuel efficiency of the bike. Packed with the 124.73cc engine, this commuter delivers fuel economy of 65kmpl. It can attain a top speed of 93kmph. 2018 Honda CB Shine SP Design

Visually, the 2018 model year looks largely similar to the previous version. Though, it receives minor updates including new body graphics and newly-designed tank shroud. It also gets a new analogue digital combo cluster featuring a Service Due indicator and a clock. Styling bits such as headlight cowl and visor, black grab-rail, side panels with silver finish, tail-lamp, full chain cover, seats and clear-lense indicators are carried over from the old model. It also continues to come with AHO (automatic headlamp on), Livo-inspired exhaust muffler with chrome garnish, rear suspension springs in red colour and slightly modified exhaust. The 2018 CB 125 Shine SP is available in three Metallic shades – Geny Grey Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic and Imperial Red Metallic along with Black and Pearl Siren Blue paint schemes.
