New 2019 Honda Brio RS Revealed

The new-generation Honda Brio styling is heavily inspired from the Small RS Concept, featuring a conventional rear hatch and larger rear doors

Japanese carmaker, Honda will unveil the new-generation Honda Brio hatchback in Indonesia today. To be unveiled at the GIIAS 2018 (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) in Jakarta, the new Brio will go on sale by the end of 2018 or early 2019 in Indonesia. Ahead of its official debut later today, clear images of the new Brio have surfaced on the web-world.

The new Honda Brio shares styling cues from the Honda Small RS concept, which was showcased at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show earlier this year. The 2019 Brio gets a similar body shell, along with similar design highlights. The new model is available in two avatars – standard and a sportier Brio RS.

The new-gen Honda Brio will be based on the new Amaze sedan’s platform, which is lighter and safer than the previous car. The Small RS concept measures 3,610mm in length, 1,680mm in width and 1,500mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,345mm. It is expected that the new Brio has similar dimensions. Though, more details about the interior, specs and features will be revealed later today.

In terms of styling, the new Honda Brio’s first design seems heavily inspired from the facelifted Mobilio MPV. While the overall profile till B-pillar is largely similar to the outgoing model, the rear design is completely new. The rear door is larger in size, while the rear overhang seems slightly longer. At the back, the 2019 Honda Brio gets a conventional design. It comes with a full tailgate instead of the glass hatch in the outgoing model. Also See – Upcoming Honda Cars In India

Mechanically, the next-gen Honda Brio is likely to remain unchanged. It is expected to feature the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers the current Honda Brio and even the all-new Honda Amaze. This naturally aspirated engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4,800rpm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit.
