Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest carmaker is working on a range of new bikes for the Indian market. The company will launch a 200cc sports bike by early next year, probably at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. If media reports are to be believed, Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch a completely new Passion in the country towards the end of this year. The new Hero Passion 2017 will get the company’s in-house developed technologies and components.
This popular commuter currently features Honda’s sourced 97.2cc engine, which is sourced from Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India. The homegrown automaker is planning to gradually phase out royalty-laden products. All these products will be replaced with in-house technology. Report further suggests that the new Passion will use a new engine that is developed at Hero’s Global Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur.
The Passion 2017 model is likely to share TOD (Torque-on-Demand) engine, i3S (Idel-Stop-Start system), LED technology and an updated CV carburettor. New Hero Passion 2017 Launch Date
Since Hero is planning to phase out all the models that sourced components from Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, it is expected that the new Passion could be launched before the end of this year. If reports are to be believed, the new motorcycle will be launched towards the end of this year.

The outgoing bike is powered by a 97.2cc Honda sourced engine, which is coupled to Hero’s i3S system as standard. Paired to a 4-speed gearbox, this engine is capable of producing 8.36PS of power at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The new model will be powered by in-house developed engine.
