New Hero Electric Scooter – New Battery Details Out

Hero MotoCorp has confirmed that its first electric scooter will come with the swappable battery technology. Just so you know, the home-grown two-wheeler maker has a strategic partnership with Taiwan-based battery swapping infrastructure provider – Gogoro. Both firms agreed to co-develop electric scooter for India, and later for the global markets. While Hero will design and develop the electric two-wheelers, Gogoro will be responsible for battery swapping technology.

Recently, Hero MotoCorp and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced partnership to set up charging infrastructure for the upcoming electric bikes and scooters in the country. It will be done in phased manner. In the first phase, the company will establish charging stations in Delhi and Bengaluru and 7 more cities. Both DC and AC charges will be available at each station.

Design, specifications and features of the new Hero electric scooter are still under the wraps. Though, the teaser video shows its silhouette that looks different from the existing Hero scooters. It shares resemblance with the Gogoro e-scooter. Reports suggest that the new Hero electric scooter will be capable to attain a maximum speed of around 25kmph. With an estimated cost of around Rs 1 lakh or less, it’s likely to undercut its rivals.

The Taiwan-based Gogoro offers a range of ‘Smartscooters’ in select global markets. The product portfolio includes Gogoro S1, Viva, Viva Mix, Viva XL, Delight, 2 Series and SuperSport. Talking about Gogoro Viva electric scooter, the model comes in Keyless and Basic variants. There is an electric motor pushing out a peak power of 3kW and 115Nm of torque. The e-scooter offers a range of 85km.

The Gogoro Viva electric scooter features a LED headlamp at the front. It also gets USB charging port, synchronized braking system, hydraulic disc brakes, fixed step bar, smart sensors and a colour LCD negative display with backlight.
