New-Generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio Launch Delayed

Maruti Suzuki is ready to give a generation change to its three highly popular models including Alto, Celerio and Vitara Brezza. The next-generation Alto will make its global debut in December 2020 and come sometime next year. The all-new Vitara Brezza is reported to arrive in 2022. The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be the first model to roll out among them. The entry-level hatchback was slated to go on sale during 2020 festive season. However, due to some supply constraints, its launch has been pushed to early next year.

The 2021 Maruti Celerio will witness significant changes in terms of design and features. In fact, the hatchback will ditch the existing platform for Suzuki’s new Heartect architecture. Compared to the current generation, the new model will be bigger in size and have longer wheelbase and more spacious cabin. The new Celerio might come with a new interior layout and a pack of new features including the SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system.

The latest spy pictures reveal that the 2021 Maruti Celerio will have more SUV-ish stance rather than the hatchback. Upfront could be revised with new projector headlamps with LED DRLs and new bumper. The hatchback might also receive a new set of alloy wheels, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and updated LED taillamps. Read – All-New Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza In the Works

On the engine front, the new-generation Maruti Celerio is likely to get a more powerful 1.2L K-Series petrol and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine. While the former will be good enough for 83bhp, the latter will produce 68bhp. Similar to the current model, the new one will come with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.

The existing 1.0L petrol motor delivers a claimed mileage of 21.63kmpl. With new, lightweight Heartect platform, the 2021 Celerio’s fuel economy might see a minor change. The hatchback will also continue to come with the CNG powertrain.
