New-Gen Suzuki Vitara (Kia Seltos Rival) Global Launch Next Year

Japanese automaker, Suzuki was reportedly to present the next-gen Vitara mid-sized SUV in October 2020; that didn’t happen. The global debut seems delayed due to ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, which impacted supply-chain and introduction of new models. It is expected that the company will introduce the concept or pre-production version of the next-gen Vitara in the early 2021.

The production version of the next-gen Suzuki Vitara is expected to be launched in select international markets in the mid-2021. The SUV will go on sale in Europe, Japan and Australia. The next-gen Vitara will directly rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Toyota CH-R, Honda HR-V and the Hyundai Kona.

The new Vitara is not likely to arrive in our market, as Maruti Suzuki and Toyota jointly readying an all-new mid-sized SUV based on the Toyota Raize’s DNGA platform. The new model will use the modified version of the existing Global C Platform, which also underpins the Vitara Brezza in India.

The vehicle will adopt more evolutionary styling changes, with angular styling. The SUV will grow in size; however, the wheelbase will remain intact at 2.5 meters. The SUV is rumoured to measure around 4.2 meters in length, 1.7 meters in width and 1.6 meters in height. It will have all-new design, new feature-loaded interior and new engine options.

It will be powered by a 1.4-litre inline 4 Booster jet petrol engine that churns out 130bhp of power and 253Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be on offer. This engine will be coupled to a mile hybrid system with a 48 volt lithium-ion electric battery.

Talking about Indian market, Maruti Suzuki will launch an all-new locally designed and developed mid-sized SUV to challenge the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. The new SUV is rumoured to be launched in 2022.
