A new spy image reveals the SUV-ish design and improved interiors of the upcoming New Maruti Alto.

Maruti Suzuki has started road-testing the next-gen Alto hatchback in India. The new model has been spotted testing, which reveals the possible design. It will replace the existing model and is likely to arrive before October as the new crash safety regulations will be introduced on October 1, 2019. The new spy shot not just reveals the styling and size of the car but also shows the interior highlights.

The next-gen Maruti Alto clearly grown in size and comes with all-new design. Spy image reveals that the styling of the car is heavily inspired by the Future S concept, which was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The next-gen Alto will be a tall-boy hatchback with SUV-ish stance and raised ground clearance.

It is evident that the new Alto will come with all-new interior, featuring new dashboard with a centre-mounted circular display. It features a digital console for the speedometer and the tachometer. The vehicle will also come with an infotainment system in the top-spec model, while the basic audio system will be offered in the lower-spec variants. The top-spec variants could receive the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system that recently debuted in the WagonR and the Baleno facelift.

In terms of styling, the all-new Maruti Alto gets a micro-SUV like profile. This model looks taller than the Renault Kwid. The new Alto will be based on the new HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Wagon R, Swift twins, Ignis and Baleno. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder and speed alert system will come as standard safety features. The new-gen Maruti Alto is expected to feature the same set of engines – 800cc 3-cylinder and the 1.0-litre K10 3-cylinder petrol. Previous media reports claim that the company could introduce the 666cc, turbocharged petrol engine in the new Alto. Both manual and AMT gearbox options will be on offer.
