New-Gen Honda HR-V and Civic To Be Unveiled In The Next 2 Years

While the next-gen Honda HR-V will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2021, the next-gen Civic will be introduced in 2022.

Japanese automaker, Honda is readying a wide range of new SUVs and models for the global markets. The company is reportedly working on 3 brand new SUVs including a sub-4 meter SUV, a mid-sized SUV and the next-gen HR-V SUV. Adding to it, Honda has already started testing the next-gen Civic hatchback.

The next-gen Honda HR-V SUV will make global debut in the first quarter of 2021. The new model will also mark the debut brand’s new architecture. Adding to it, the SUV is reportedly to feature a more coupe SUV-like design. Adding to it, the new model will grow in size to accommodate a slightly smaller mid-sized SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks.

The new Honda HR-V is reportedly to feature the same 2.61 meters of wheelbase; however, the overall dimensions will be significantly increased. It will measure around 4.4 meters in length, 1.79 meters in width and 1.59 meters in height. The SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces around 129PS and 200Nm of torque. It will also receive a hybrid engine that comprises of a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors.

The 11th generation Honda Civic hatchback will have more evolutionary changes with most of the design or platform will be retained. The next-gen Civic sedan and hatchback will be produced in the USA. The new model will first introduce in the USA in 2021, while the global-spec model will be introduced in 2022. In India, the next-gen Honda Civic sedan could be introduced around 2023.

The next-gen Honda Civic will receive design changes like new headlamps, more prominent grille, stronger beltline, thinner tail-lamps and larger trunk lid. The front design will be heavily inspired by the new Honda Accord. In fact, the interior is also likely to be shared with the new Accord. There will be a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system positioned on top of the panel. The new Civic is likely to receive the 2.0L turbocharged engine with manual garbox front-wheel drive setup. The vehicle could also receive the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with CVT automatic gearbox.
