New-gen Honda City Prices To Be Announced On July 15, 2020

The long-awaited new-gen Honda City 2020 will officially go on sale in the Indian market on July 15, 2020. Interested buyers can pre-book the sedan online or via authorized Honda dealership. In fact, Honda has started dispatching the new City to dealerships.

Production of the new-gen Honda City has also been commenced at the company’s Greater Noida based plant in Uttar Pradesh. The new model is based on the modified version of the existing platform, which is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and stronger. Adding to it, the new City will be India’s first connected car with Alexa remote capability.

2020 Honda City Bookings

Powering the new-gen Honda City is the new 1.5L i-VTEC DOHC with VTC (Variable Valve Timing). This engine produces 121bhp at 6,600rpm and a peak torque of 145Nm at 4,300rpm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT automatic. While the manual version is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.8kmpl, the automatic version delivers 18.4kmpl.

The diesel version gets the BSVI compliant 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that is good for 99bhp at 3,600rpm and a peak torque of 200Nm at 1,750rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The diesel City is claimed to return an ARAI certified mileage of 24.1kmpl.

New Honda City Interior

The new-gen Honda City is equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features. Feature-list includes one-touch electric sunroof, automatic headlamp control with light sensors, all-4 power windows with auto up/down with pinch guard, CVT with steering mounted paddle shifters, engine start/stop button, touch sensor based smart keyless access entry, remote engine start, and sunroof keyless operation. The new City also gets next-gen Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit that offers over 32 connected car features.

The 2020 Honda City also gets high-end safety and security features such as six airbags, VSA with agile handling assist, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, segment-first Honda LaneWatch camera, ABS with EBD and brake assist, multi angle rear camera, etc.
