New-Gen Force Gurkha Reaches Dealerships Ahead of Launch

The new-generation Force Gurkha has started arriving at dealerships across the nation. The off-road SUV’s new model, which was first previewed at this year’s Auto Expo, is likely to launch in coming weeks (i.e. near around festive season). Similar to the existing model lineup, the new one will be spread across three trims – Xpedition, Xplorer and Xtreme.

Prices of the updated Gurkha might be slightly higher than the current generation that costs between Rs 9.75 lakh – Rs 13.3 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The 2020 Force Gurkha will take head-to-head against the second-generation Mahindra Thar that’s due for 2nd October.

The new Gurkha meets the existing crash test standards and the upcoming pedestrian safety norms, thanks to its new chassis and bodyshell. While the SUV retains upright retro stance, it receives multiple design changes making it look different from the current model. The front fascia has been updated with a newly-designed grille, revised bumper and new light clusters. Design bits such as 16-inch alloy wheels with 245/70 tubeless tyres, pronounced wheel arches and claddings add more to its rugged looks. Read – 2020 Mahindra Thar Vs New Force Gurkha

Comprehensive changes have been made inside the cabin. The 2020 Force Gurkha gets a newly-designed dashboard and centre console with a touchscreen infotainment system. The circular air-con vents are placed above the info unit. There is a digital MID (multi information display) for the new instrument cluster placed between the tacho and speedometer.

Engine setup has been carried over from the previous generation. Though, the 2.6L diesel engine has been calibrated to meet the BS6 emission norms. The motor now produces a peak power of 90bhp and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new Gurkha will come with both 4WD and 2WD system.
