Ford, the American automaker has been testing the third generation Endeavour SUV for quite sometime, which is scheduled to go on sale in several international markets soon. For the first time, the SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads. Motor Vikatan reader NMr. Manikandan Subbarayalu managed to click the three Endeavours while testing near Tindivanam in Viluppuram district, Tamil Nadu. The vehicle will be launched in the Indian market by the end of this year.
Ford India has recently imported the Endeavour test vehicles to Chennai from Thailand. The company has already launched the SUV in the Thailand market at a starting price of Rs. 24.27 lakhs. According to Motor Vikatan, the spy shots of three cars get different engines and transmission.
The Endeavour with blue shade is reportedly powered by a 2.2-litre TDCI diesel engine with a manual transmission, while the model with silver colour gets a six-speed automatic transmission. This 2.2-litre engine is capable of producing a top power output of 158.24bhp and a peak torque of 385Nm. Both cars come in 2-wheel drive configuration.
The third model, black shade, is powered by a larger 3.2-litre Duratorq 5-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 197.13bhp of power and 470Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox which sends the power to 4-wheels of the SUV. It is equipped with Ford’s terrain management system that changes throttle response, gear, differential, and traction control on the driver’s request.
The new Ford Endeavour comes with a 225mm of ground clearance, and has a water wading capacity of 800mm which is just 50mm less than the Range Rover. The new model gets all-new exteriors and interiors, and is equipped with several advanced features.
