New Fiat Punto facelift India launch next month- Report

Fiat has recently disclosed its future plans for the growing Indian market which includes a series of new launches and dealership expansion. The company will launch three cars this year- Punto facelift, Avventura crossover and Abarth 500. It was speculated that Fiat will introduce the updated hatchback by the year end; however, media reports suggest that Fiat has preponed the launch. Now, the Punto facelift will make its debut in the country in July, 2014.

The 2014 Fiat Punto has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on the Indian roads. Recently, the pictures of the updated hatchback have been leaked on the web world. Fiat has accidentally revealed the picture while it announced its five years plan for the Indian market. The front fascia of the hatchback takes its styling cues with the Avventura crossover concept. It features the rounded-square grille which is complemented by black, blacked out headlamps. The lower and wide air dam at the front is heavily sculpted with big, chrome-lined quarter for the trapezoidal shaped fog lamps. The side profile of the hatchback looks similar to the current generation model; however, it gets a new set of alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the Punto hatchback will share its components with its sedan sibling, Linea. The vehicle is likely to get the beige and black interior, redone centre console, new upholstery on seats and others. On safety front, this model is likely to get dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), engine immobilizer, central locking, etc. The top spec model is likely to feature automatic climate control, power steering with audio controls mounted on it, height adjustable driver seat and several others.

The Fiat Punto facelift will be offered in two petrol engines and a diesel mill. While the gasoline model gets a 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engines, the oil burner has tried & trusted 1.3-litre Multi-Jet engine. This model will compete against the likes of Maruti Swift and Hyundai i20.
