Based on Suzuki’s new generation HEARTECT platform, the new Maruti Ertiga is powered by an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine.
India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the new generation Ertiga MPV in India. The new model shares most of its features with the new gen Swift hatchback, which was launched at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The new model is available in 4 trim levels – L, V, Z and Z+ – and in total of 10 variants. Here we bring you five things we know about the new gen Ertiga.
– New Platform
Like the new Swift and Dzire, the new gen Maruti Ertiga is based on the Suzuki’s new generation HEARTECT platform. This platform is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and safer than the previous model, which makes it more fuel efficient than the previous model. Also See – Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars In India
– No New Diesel Engine
It was speculated that the new-gen Maruti Ertiga will also mark the debut of in-house developed all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine, that didn’t happen. Instead, Maruti sticks with the tried & tested 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine with SHVS mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed gearbox. It is expected that the new diesel engine could arrive in late 2019 or early 2020. However, nothing official has been confirmed by the company.
– Spacious & Feature loaded Cabin
Thanks to new platform, the new Ertiga offers more space inside the cabin. The new model is 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller than the outgoing model, which means it offers more legroom and shoulder space for rear occupants. Additionally, the 7-seater MPV also gets several high-end features like SmartPlay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, etc. Also See – First Accessorized Version Of New Maruti Swift – Pics & Details
– New Petrol Engine
The new-generation Suzuki Ertiga is equipped with a new 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine that replaces the 1.4-litre unit. This engine is capable of producing 105bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. For transmission duties, this engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
– More Mileage
Thanks to the new lighter platform, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has witnessed a significant rise in fuel efficiency. The petrol version delivers an impressive 19.34kmpl in manual and 18.69kmpl in automatic mode, while the diesel model delivers an excellent ARAI certified fuel economy of 25.47kmpl.
