To be based on Suzuki’s new generation HEARTECT platform, the new Maruti Ertiga is expected to be powered by an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine.
India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited new generation Ertiga MPV. The new model will share most of its features with the new gen Swift hatchback, which was launched at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. In fact, Suzuki has already unveiled the Indonesian-spec Ertiga at the 2018 IIMS. Here we bring you five things we know about the new gen Ertiga.
Like the new Swift and Dzire, the new gen Maruti Ertiga is based on the Suzuki’s new generation HEARTECT platform. This platform is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and safer than the previous model, which is likely to make it more fuel efficient than the previous model. If media reports are to be believed, new gen Maruti Ertiga might feature an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine. This engine is reportedly developed by Maruti Suzuki and it will also power the Ciaz facelift, which is due for mid-2018. The outgoing model is available with two engine options – 1.3-litre MJD diesel with SHVS mild hybrid system and 1.4-litre K-Series petrol. It is quite early to comment whether the new Ertiga will feature the new 1.5-litre diesel engine or not. We believe that the new model will continue with existing engine setup.
Thanks to new platform, the new Ertiga offers more space inside the cabin. The new model is 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller than the outgoing model, which means it offers more legroom and shoulder space for rear occupants. Additionally, the 7-seater MPV will also get several high-end features like SmartPlay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, etc. Also See – First Accessorized Version Of New Maruti Swift – Pics & Details
