New gen Maruti Ertiga will be powered by Suzuki’s new 1.5-litre petrol engine instead of 1.4-litre unit, and will be coupled to a 4-speed AT unit.

Japanese automaker, Suzuki had unveiled the second-generation Ertiga MPV at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. In India, the new model will be launched during festive season, Diwali. The new MPV is currently in final testing phase in India. A new set of spy images of the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 have hit the internet, revealing important details. However, the spotted model was fully camouflaged.

The interior picture of the MPV has also been leaked on the internet. While the overall interior design layout is similar to that of the Suzuki Ertiga, there are subtle changes. The image also suggests that the new Ertiga will come with an automatic gearbox. The gear lever seems identical to the outgoing Ertiga automatic. We informed you earlier that the new Ertiga will be powered by Suzuki’s new 1.5-litre petrol engine instead of 1.4-litre unit. This engine is capable of producing 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Besides automatic unit, the new Ertiga will also get a  5-speed manual gearbox unit.

This 1.5-litre petrol engine will also power the Ciaz facelift, which will also go on sale in August 2018. This model will also get an automatic gearbox. Previous media reports claim that the new Ertiga could also get a new 1.5-litre diesel engine. This engine will replace the 1.3-litre MJD unit. However, latest reports claim that this engine will come in 2019 only. It is expected that this engine could debut in the Baleno facelift, which will be launched in early 2019.
