It seems that the new Ford EcoSport is all set to further heat up the already hot compact SUV segment in India. Ford Motor India has commenced official bookings for the vehicle on November 5, 2017. Under an exclusive deal with Amazon, the company was selling a limited 123 units of the new EcoSport on www.amazon.in/ford for 24 hours. Interestingly, all the units assigned for Amazon have been booked within first few hours.
The company confirms that the all 123 units of the new EcoSport were booked by 10 AM. Most of the bookings came for the top-spec Titanium+ trim packed with the all-new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine and a new six-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, the new Lighting Blue paint scheme also emerged as buyers’ new favourite. One can pre-order the car by paying an initial sum of Rs 10,000. Ford says that the new EcoSport has been redesigned comprehensively with close to 1600 new parts. With several cosmetic and feature updates, the compact SUV looks more refreshing than its predecessor. Face of the car has been revised with bolder signature grille, larger projector headlamps and fog lamp bezel. Other key updates include new LED tail lamps, 17-inch wheels and new tailgate mounted spare wheel cover.
The first thing you will notice inside the cabin is the new instrument panel & SYNC 3 with a high-resolution 8-inch floating touch screen, supporting Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto. All variants of the new model receive dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard safety fitment. Safety features such as six airbags, traction control, Hill Launch Assist, cruise control and Ford’s Emergency assistance system are restricted to the high-spec trim.
Engine setup of the new EcoSport include a new a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol, 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel. The new gasoline unit is said to be more refined and frugal than the old 1.5L, four-cylinder motor. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
