Bajaj Auto has been on a launching spree this year, we have already seen 3 new Bajaj Pulsar bikes this year – AS150, AS200 and RS200. In the next 3-4 months there will be as many as 4 new Bajaj motorcycle launches that includes two 400cc Pulsars – CS400 and SS400, Pulsar 150NS and the new Avengers.
We understand that too many options under the same nameplate, ‘Pulsar’ in this case, might confuse buyers specially when the price difference isn’t too much. So to give a clearer idea to our readers, here’s how you can tell them apart.
The AS150 is the entry-level sport bike that falls under the company’s new ‘adventure sport’ category that is more powerful than its sibling – Pulsar 150 DTS-i. Though it uses the same engine as the Pulsar 150 DTS-i, the company has tuned it to offer more power. Also, it is built on the company’s new preimeter frame and not on the regular 150’s platform. Powering the bike is a 149.5cc, twin-spark 4-Valve air-cooled DTSi engine that churns out 16.8bhp, which makes it about 2bhp more powerful than the regular 150 model.

Bajaj Pulsar AS200 is a more powerful model in the adventure sport category that is launched to lure buyers looking for slightly more powerful adventure motorcycle. Like with AS150 and AS200, Bajaj has entered the Adventure Sport category, the RS200 is the company’s first ‘racing sport’ bike (though nobody has a clue what that category actually is). The company will launch a 400cc model as well in the same category. The RS200 features a full-fairing and is more powerful and faster (AND MORE EXPENSIVE) than any other Pulsar currently on sale in India. It is the bike’s engine, 199.5cc, 4-valve, triple spark, DTSi with fuel injection and liquid cooling, and aerodynamic design that makes it faster than other Pulsars. This engine is good for 24.3bhp and 18.6Nm.
