Bajaj Auto has introduced the new Platina 100 Kick Start (KS) variant at Rs 51,667 (ex-showroom). Compared to the Electric Start (ES) model, the new Bajaj Platina KS is around Rs 7,700 more affordable. The commuter’s new variant receives spring-on-spring Nitrox suspension, tubeless tyres and a few new features. The spring-on-spring Nitrox suspension has pressurized nitrogen gas inside the canister of the shock absorber that helps absorbing the road undulations and ensures smooth ride for the rider and the pillion.
The bikemaker claims that the new Bajaj Platina KS variant has 20 percent longer front and rear suspension and provides 15 percent more comfortable long rides. As mentioned above, it gets tubeless tyres that hold air between the rim and the tyre ensuring high-speed stability. It also reduces the chances of wobble. Braking duties are done by front and rear drum brakes.
The commuter can be had in two colour schemes – Ebony Black with Silver decals and Cocktail Wine Red. Some of its key features include LED headlamp with DRLs (daytime running lights), hand guards, protective tank pad, newly-designed indicators and mirrors, quilted seat and wide rubber footpads.
For power, the new Bajaj Platina 100 KS variant uses the BS6 compliant 102cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, DTS-i motor that does duty in the ES (electric start) model. The motor has been tuned for producing a peak power of 7.77bhp at 7,500rpm and a maximum torque of 8.3Nm at 5,500rpm. The commuter has a 4-speed gearbox for performing transmission duties.
