Bajaj Chetak Ready To Make A Comeback; Launch Details Inside

Bajaj Chetak 2019

Considering the cult following Bajaj Chetak had during its time, the relaunch of the same brand might just work in the company’s favour.

Rumours around the relaunch of the Bajaj Chetak brand have been doing rounds for a really long time, but Bajaj Auto has always maintained its silence over it. Patent images of the scooter have been leaked online, indicating that the new Bajaj Chetak 2019 will go into production. It was speculated that the new model will be launched in late 2017 or early 2018; that didn’t happen.

If latest media reports are to believed, the company will re-introduce the iconic Chetak nameplate to start their second innings in the scooter segment. The new scooter is expected to be launched in 2019. Considering the cult following Bajaj Chetak had during its time, the relaunch of the same brand might just work in the company’s favour. Also, the leaked picture hints at Bajaj Auto trying to make it look a bit retro to target premium scooter buyers. Having said that, the new Bajaj Chetak will be a unisex scooter for people of all ages unlike the Piaggio Vespa that mainly targets young female buyers.

The report further claims that an electric version of the scooter is also under the development, which will eventually go on sale in 2020. The electric scooter is most likely to be called the ‘Chetak Chic Electric’ and will come with a decent running range on full charge. With the growing popularity of the Piaggio Vespa range and the entry of the Aprilia SR range in the same segment, Bajaj probably sees a huge opportunity there. Though we expect the Pune-based two-wheeler maker to keep the prices of the new Bajaj Chetak 2019 a lot more aggressive than all of its rivals. Also Read: Upcoming Bajaj Bikes in India – Complete List
