In a bid to regain lost market share, Honda is aiming at premium car segment. Besides premium cars, Honda will launch the new generation Amaze in India on 16th May 2018. Unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the new Amaze looks premium, bigger and feature loaded. It will rival the Maruti DZire, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Xcent. Here will bring you 6 things you should know about the new generation Honda Amaze –
New platform
The new Amaze sub-4 meter sedan has been developed specifically for Indian market. This model has been conceptualised at Honda’s Asia Pacific R&D centre in Thailand. It is based on an all-new platform, which is claimed to be versatile, stiffer and safer than the outgoing platform. This platform helps the automaker to create more space inside the cabin. If reports are to be believed, Honda will use this platform to develop a sub-4 meter SUV for Indian market.
New Amaze Review
New Design
Design inspiration for the new Amaze comes from Honda’s bigger sedans including City and Accord. It looks way modern and bigger than the outgoing car. The sedan gets prominent bonnet, Accord like chromed-grille, sweptback headlamps, clean side profile and neatly designed rear profile. Adding to it, the 10-spoke alloys look quite interesting. Engine Specs
The new Amaze continues to feature the same set of engines – 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. The petrol engine is capable of producing 89bhp of maximum power and 115Nm of torque. For transmission duties, this engine gets a 5-speed manual and a new CVT automatic gearbox.
The diesel engine on the other hand, offers two states of tunes. While the manual version is good for 99bhp and 200Nm of torque, the automatic model is capable of producing 79bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. Adding to it, this engine has been tuned for better fuel efficiency and NVH levels.
Diesel CVT
Interestingly, the diesel version of the Amaze comes equipped with a CVT automatic option. This will make it the most affordable diesel car with CVT gearbox. It will rival the Maruti DZire diesel AMT.
