In a bid to regain lost market share, Honda is aiming at premium car segment. Besides premium cars, Honda is planning to launch the new generation Amaze in India. Unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the new Amaze looks premium, bigger and feature loaded. It will rival the Maruti DZire, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Xcent. Here will bring you 6 things you should know about the new generation Honda Amaze

New platform

The new Amaze sub-4 meter sedan has been developed specifically for Indian market. This model has been conceptualised at Honda’s Asia Pacific R&D centre in Thailand. It is based on an all-new platform, which is claimed to be versatile, stiffer and safer than the outgoing platform. This platform helps the automaker to create more space inside the cabin. If reports are to be believed, Honda will use this platform to develop a sub-4 meter SUV for Indian market.

New Design

Design inspiration for the new Amaze comes from Honda’s bigger sedans including City and Accord. It looks way modern and bigger than the outgoing car. The sedan gets prominent bonnet, Accord like chromed-grille, sweptback headlamps, clean side profile and neatly designed rear profile. Adding to it, the 10-spoke alloys look quite interesting. Feature loaded cabin

Unlike current model, the new Amaze cabin feels premium and is loaded with several tech features. The newly designed dashboard is wrapped in dual-tone paint, while the central console gets Honda’s DIGIPAD touchscreen infotainment system with connected car applications. The plastic quality has been improved, while the seat cushioning gets better. The cabin offers more legroom and headroom space for both front and rear occupants. Engine Specs

The new Amaze will continue to feature the same set of engines – 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. While the former is capable of producing 89bhp and 115Nm, the oil burner is good for 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. However, this engine has been tuned for better fuel efficiency and NVH levels.

Diesel CVT

Interestingly, the diesel version of the Amaze will feature a CVT automatic option. This will make it the most affordable diesel car with CVT gearbox. It will rival the Maruti DZire diesel AMT.

The new generation Amaze sedan will go on sale in the second quarter of 2018. We believe that the new model will go on sale in May, 2018.
