New 2023 Honda City Facelift Launch By March – All Key Details

Honda Cars India is ready to give a mid-life update to its highly popular City sedan in the country. According to a fresh media report, the new 2023 Honda City facelift will go on sale by March. The model is likely to receive minimal changes inside and out, while retaining the existing powertrains. The carmaker might also remove or add some of new variants to the updated lineup. We have seen test mules of the new City revealing some of its cosmetic changes including the newly-designed alloy wheels and tweaked taillamps.

The front fascia will be revised with a larger black grille missing out on the thick chrome bar. It will also get a slightly tweaked bumper, massive air dams and updated fog lamp assembly. No changes are expected to be made to its interior layout. Though, the sedan might get wireless charger and ventilated seats.

Honda City Hybrid Design

The new 2023 Honda City facelift will come with two powertrain options – a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L Atkinson Cycle petrol hybrid. While the former delivers a peak power of 121bhp, the latter returns a claimed power of 126bhp. Mileage figures will remain unchanged – i.e. 18.4kmpl (for the petrol) and 26.5kmpl (for the petrol hybrid). With the upcoming new emission norms, Honda will discontinue the 100bhp, 1.5L diesel engine. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a CVT and e-CVT (only for the petrol hybrid variant).

Currently, the Honda City sedan is available within the price range of Rs 11.87 lakh and Rs 15.62 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The Hybrid ZX eHEV variant costs Rs 19.89 lakh. With minor cosmetic changes and feature upgrades, the facelifted version might witness a minor price hike.

After the City facelift, the Japanese automaker will foray into the highly-competitive mid-size SUV segment with a new model. It’s likely to be unveiled by mid 2023 and its market launch might happen during this year’s festive season.
