The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will soon hit showrooms in the country. The carmaker has started releasing teasers of the new model ahead of its market launch. It’s likely to debut in June near around its 20th anniversary. In fact, select Mahindra dealers have begun taking pre-bookings for the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio SUV.
The SUV will witness noticeable cosmetic changes, feature upgrades and new powertrains along with a new platform. It will be bigger, better and more spacious than before.
Engine setup of the new Scorpio will be similar to the XUV700. It will come with 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines making 200PS and 155PS/185PS respectively. Both motors will be offered with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options. The RWD (rear-wheel drive) system will be standard and the 4WD (four-wheel drive) will be an optional offering.
Set for a generation change, the Mahindra Scorpio will come with 6 and 7-seats layouts. Unlike the current model that has side facing jump seats, the new one will offer bench type seats in the third row. Several new features will make its interior premium than before.
This time around, the SUV will come with the wireless smartphone charging, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control, connected car tech, a 360 degree camera, cruise control, sunroof and 6 airbags.
As mentioned above, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be significantly bigger than the current generation. It will offer a massive road presence. Though, its dimension details are still under the wraps. The SUV will also take a big leap in terms of design and styling. With all aforementioned updates, the new Scorpio will surely be more expensive than the existing model.
