Czech automaker, Skoda has unveiled the new Fabia hatchback at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Besides, the company has also showcased the new Fabia Combi and all-new Vision X SUV concept. The new 2019 Skoda Fabia comes with several design changes along with refined interior. Adding to it, the hatchback also gets new 1.0-litre petrol engine along with additional assistance systems. The vehicle will go on sale in the international markets in the second half of 2019. Skoda has no plans to re-introduce Fabia nameplate in the Indian market. Though, the company is working on a low-cost MQB platform for Indian market which will be used for a premium hatchback.

In terms of styling, the new Fabia gets Skoda’s signature butterfly grille and new headlights and fog lights enclosures. LED headlights and LED rear lights are now being offered with the Fabia for the first time. The top-end model also gets a newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. The Skoda Fabia 2019 will be available with four petrol engines, each with 3 cylinders and a displacement of 1.0-litre. The MPI engines with indirect injection produce 60bhp and 75bhp respectively. The two TSI petrol engines come with turbocharging and direct injection, enabling them to offer 95bhp and 110bhp. The 110bhp unit is paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The vehicle also gets new driver assistance systems such as Blind spot detection, rear traffic alert system, light assist, etc. It is also equipped with a new 6.5-inch ‘Swing’ infotainment system that allows drivers to use the full range of mobile online services from Skoda Connect. This system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. The vehicle also has clever features like ice scraper concealed in the fuel filler flap, a gauge for measuring the tyre tread depth, USB ports for the rear passengers, etc.
