Toyota India is planning to launch the new generation Innova MPV in the country by 2016. If media reports are to be believed, the new model will be unveiled globally in 2015. It has already started working on this next generation model and it is confirmed by the near production-ready images of the MPV, spied as a test mule. It has been captured several times in India and Thailand with heavy camouflage during the extensive road tests.
The next gen Toyota Innova underpins an all-new platform and it is expected to make its world première by 2015, most probably. Mr. Michinobu Sugata, Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMPC) president told a popular tabloid that next year global début is on cards which further strengthens the possibilities of it being coming out next year. He went on to say that TMPC has made an investment of Rs. 2.75 Billion for improving the parts localization for the next gen Innova. For the 2016 Toyota Innova, the rate of localization would be higher than 30 percent. This time around, the MPV would be spacious than ever, inside the cabin.
Rumor-mills are also abuzz that the latest iteration of Toyota Innova MPV would introduce company’s new family of diesel engines. Moreover, the vehicle is likely to carry an automatic transmission with the diesel motor. However, nothing is certain yet as the spy-shots of the interiors hasn’t come out, nor the company has released any official image. It would be seen locking horns with the likes of Honda Mobilio, Nissan Evalia, Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Ertiga etc. to name a few. The pricing might differ by a few thousands and it would be, most possibly, launched in the price bracket of Rs. 9 – 14 Lakhs in 2016 in India.
