South Korean automaker Hyundai will unveil the new generation i20 hatchback at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The vehicle has been spotted several times during its test rounds on the Indian roads. If media reports to believe, Hyundai India will launch the 2015 i20 by the festive season (Oct-Nov). It is also expected that our country will be one of the first markets for the new Hyundai i20.
The new generation Hyundai i20 will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The vehicle is expected to carryover the current engine configuration- a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel. This model is also available with a more powerful 1.4-litre petrol engine, but with an automatic transmission gearbox.
Codenamed as “IB”, the new Hyundai i20 is larger in size compared to the current generation model. It will get an evolved design language of the highly successful fluidic sculpture. The front fascia of the hatchback is dominated by the signature hexagonal grille offering a common family look. Its side profile gets noticeable changes as it now features coupe-like low roofline. At the back, the vehicle gets boomerang-shaped tail lamps, while the boot space is likely to have increased from the current model.
Inside, the new 2015 Hyundai i20 will get new dashboard with redone central console and instrument panel. However, the slopping roofline could affect the headroom space for the rear passengers.
