New 2015 Chevrolet Trax SUV to debut at New York Motor Show

General Motors has announced that it will unveil the 2015 Chevrolet Trax compact SUV at the New York International Auto Show. The 2015 Trax will offer versatility, connectivity and turbocharged performance in an efficient package.

It looks quite identical to the European spec model; however, the US-spec Chevrolet Trax gets a “dual-port” grill, sweptback headlamps and muscular rear fenders. The vehicle gets plastic body cladding all around, while the lower spec models has 16-inch wheels the top-of-the line model features 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle gets a motorcycle-inspired instrument panel and metallic accents. In the centre, it houses a seven-inch, high-resolution, full-color display for the standard MyLink voice-activated infotainment system. It also features displays for available SiriusXM satellite radio and standard rearview camera, as well as the available GPS-enabled app navigation system that customers can download. It also offers 530-litres of storage behind the split-folding rear seat and 1,371 liters with the rear seat folded. The front passenger seat also folds flat to extend the cargo length and accommodate items up to eight feet long.

Under the hood, the Chevrolet Trax is powered by a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power output of 138bhp and 200Nm of top torque. This engine is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission gearbox which sends the power to all-wheel drive system.

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax will go on sale in the United States early next year and pricing will be announced closer to launch. It is expected to make its Indian debut by the 2015-16.
