Indian automotive industry is fuming with tough competition, and country’s largest passenger carmaker Maruti Suzuki has some really big plans for their Indian buyers. Already launched in Japan and European markets, the much awaited 2014 Maruti Swift facelift will make its way to India sometime in the festive season. Here’s what we have to say about the car.
The Swift facelift will share a great resemblance to its predecessor. What distinguishes it from the existing model are new L-shaped LEDs, redesigned bumper with silver detailing and fog lamps. The stop-lamp design seems to have been inspired by its European version. The top-end variant will be offered with a new pair of 16-inches alloy wheels, while the base variant will get non-alloy wheel with new wheel covers. The top-end variant might be offered in a new Boost Blue metallic exterior paint.
The interior of the new Swift will certainly be more updated. Features like new blue and grey lined fabric seat upholstery, start&stop button, electronically adjustable side view mirrors, cruise control and front passenger’s window with auto-up touch function will make it a more comfortable and handy deal. The top-end model will be offered with faux leather seats, automatic climate control and an audio system with Bluetooth, Aux-in and iPod connectivity. It is expected to get electric seat adjustment and rear AC vents.
The 2014 Swift facelift will continue with the existing engines – a 1.3L Multijet diesel and 1.2L K-Series petrol. The former delivers a power of 74bhp with 190Nm of torque, while the later produces a maximum power out of 85bhp with 114Nm of torque. Both the engines will be combined with a five-speed manual transmission. However, the hatchback might be offered with an AMT gearbox option as well.
The 2014 Swift facelift is likely to be priced between Rs. 4.50 lakh and Rs.6.70 lakh. It will take on the likes of Hyundai i10, Hyundai Grand i10, VW Polo, Ford Figo, Tata Vista Tech and Skoda Fabia.
