New Maruti Swift Dzire facelift to get AMT?

Maruti Swift Dzire

We reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki India will launch the facelifts of Swift Dzire and Swift hatchback in India. With the growing competition in the compact sedan segment, it is expected that both vehicles will be launched by mid-2014. Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift has already been launched in international market like Japan and other European nations. If media reports to believe, MSI is planning to launch the Dzire compact sedan with automated manual transmission gearbox.

According to AutoCarIndia, the stocks for the Dzire automatic have already been exhausted and the company is planning to introduce the new Dzire with AMT gearbox. MSI launched the Celerio with AMT transmission which has received an overwhelming response from buyers across the nation. Now, the company is aiming to introduce this transmission in other vehicles including Ciaz sedan, Ritz and others.

For instance, Maruti imports the AMT gearbox and the company is now planning to locally manufacture the gearbox in the country. So, we expect that the Swift Dzire compact sedan with AMT could come by the end of this year or by early 2015. The new Swift Dzire gets an updated front fascia with the new L-shaped LEDs complemented by the fog lamp and revised bumper with silver detailing. The top spec variant is likely to get 16-inches alloy wheels, while the non-alloy wheel variants will get the new wheel covers.

Inside the cabin, the new Swift Dzire will look like the current model including the dashboard design and others. The vehicle is expected to get new seat upholstery, new Auto-Up touch function for the driver side power window, automatic headlamps and electronically adjustable ORVMs. Under the hood, the Swift Dzire facelift will get the same 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-litre Multi-jet diesel unit.
