More Safety Features For Skoda Slavia and Kushaq – Report

Skoda India is considering to add more safety features to its upcoming updated model lineup. Speaking to Autocar, Petr Solc, Brand Director Skoda India, said that the safety is one of the important parts of the brand’s strategy and its planning to introduce more safety fitments to their cars. The company will bring in additional active safety features and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) with its new-generation models and mid-life updates (including Skoda Slavia sedan and Kushaq SUV).

At present, all Skoda cars gets traction control system, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake disc wiping, rollover mitigation and tyre pressure monitoring system. The Skoda Slavia and Kushaq also get hill hold control, rear parking camera, cruise control and rear view camera. Skoda’s ADAS suite will offer safety features such as active forward and reverse collision mitigation braking, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and adaptive lane assist.

Upcoming Skoda Subcompact SUV

The Czech automaker confirmed a new compact SUV for India that will come under the new India 2.5 project. It will be sub-4 metre in length and will be designed on the MQB A0 IN platform. The model is reported to arrive sometime in 2024 or 2025. It could be offered with the 1.0L TSI turbo petrol engine and both 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. In future, the company might introduce the SUV with electric powertrain.

The new Skoda subcompact SUV will carry the brand’s new design language called ‘Modern Solid’. While there is no official information on the upcoming model, it’s likely to share some of its features with the Kushaq. The new Skoda SUV could be offered with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats, rain sensing wipers and 6 airbags. Once launched, the subcompact SUV will take on Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV300.
