In order to regain its lost market share, Hindustan Motors will launch the automatic version of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in the Indian car market. The vehicle is expected to be launched by the festive season (Dushera & Diwali).

The Pajero Sport was first launched in 2012, and is locally developed at the HM’s Tiruvallur manufacturing unit in Chennai. Under the hood, the SUV has the 2.5-litre diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 178bhp and 400Nm of top torque. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, which transmits power to front wheels. It is expected that the automatic variant of the Pajero Sport will get ‘INVECS-II 5-speed automatic with Sportronic’ transmission, which currently available in Thai market.

Mitsubishi currently sells Pajero Sport and Montero in India, and is planning to introduce a new range of vehicles in the growing market. Adding to it, the new generation Outlander diesel will also come to India. Toyota Fortuner is the toughest competitor of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which comes mated to a 4-speed auto gearbox. On the other hand, the Pajero will get the five-speed gearbox.
