Mini Cooper S launched in India; price is Rs. 34.65 lakh

BMW has launched the Mini Cooper S in the Indian car market at Rs. 34.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India).  The new Mini Cooper diesel was launched in November 2014, and is available in both 3-and 4-door models. Launched as CBU (Completely Built Unit), the Cooper S is available in petrol version only.

Under the hood is the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder twinturbo engine that is good for 192bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox, which sends the power to front wheels of the car. The Cooper S sprints to 100kmph from zero in just 6.7 seconds and hits a top speed of 233kmph. It is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.2kmpl.

Based on the BMW’s new UKL front-wheel drive platform that will also underpins the next-gen BMW 1-Series, the Mini Cooper S is 3,821mm long, 1,414mm tall and 1,727mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2,495mm. The car is 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than the previous model, while the wheelbase has been increased by 28mm.

Mini is also offering various customization options to its customers for the alloys, roof, decals and interiors. The luggage carrying capacity of the car is increased by 51-litres to 211-litres, and the boot volume can be further increased by up to 731-litres by folding the rear seats.
