MG3 (Altroz, Baleno Rival) Makes India Debut At Auto Expo 2020

Morris Garages India has showcased the new MG3 premium hatchback at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020. The vehicle is already on sale in markets like Thailand, China and United Kingdom. The carmaker hasn’t yet confirmed its India launch, but they might consider it on the demand basis. If launched, the MG3 will lock horns against the newly-launched Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20.

Globally, the MG3 is offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.3L and a 1.5L. While the smaller capacity motor delivers power worth 92bhp with 118Nm of torque, the 1.5L unit pushes out a peak power of 105bhp and a peak torque of 137Nm. The hatchback comes with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

MG’s premium hatchback carries sporty design bits especially at the front end. It features a honeycomb grille, larger sweptback headlamps, muscular bumper with a large airdam and larger air intakes. Dimensionally, the MG3 hatchback measures 3,999mm in length, 1,728mm in width and 1,517mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,520mm. The global-spec version comes loaded with several comfort and connectivity features including leather steering wheel, an electric sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity and satellite navigation and more.
