MG ZS EV Gets 5 Star Rating In Euro NCAP Crash Test – Video

The MG ZS EV has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) crash test. The electric SUV scored 34.5 out of 38 points (90%) for adult occupant protection and 41.7 out of 49 points (85%) for child occupant protection.

The safety assist system score was 9.2 from a maximum 13 points (70%) and its vulnerable road users rating stood at 64% with 31 points out of 48. In the frontal and side impact tests, the car impacts a rigid barrier and a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver’s door respectively.

The tested model of the MG ZS EV was equipped with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for pedestrians and cyclists (in both city and inter-urban settings), lane keep assist, seatbelt reminders and speed assist technologies and 6 airbags as standard safety features. Scheduled to launch in January 2020, the MG ZS EV will put up against Hyundai Kona in India. Initially, the electric SUV will be retailed in 5 cities – Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. Here, it will be offered with a 44.5kWh, liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery powering a synchronous motor that’s good for 141bhp and 353Nm.
