MG X-Motion SUV Concept Debuts At 2018 Beijing Auto Show

In the company’s global product lineup, the MG X-Motion SUV will be positioned above the ZS and the GS.

MG Motor, the subsidiary of SAIC Motor UK, has finally revealed the MG X-Motion SUV concept at the Auto China 2018. To be positioned above the MG ZS and GS, the production version of the new SUV concept will go on sale in China and UK in 2019. The SUV derives its design inspiration from the company’s E-Motion electric sports car concept. MG X Motion Specifications

The MG X-Motion SUV shares its underpinnings with the China-only Roewe RX8 SUV. Upfront, the car gets narrow LED headlamps connecting to the large grille with chrome detailing inside. The pronounced contoured hood, flowing roofline, sweptback windshield and large corner intakes with illumination enhance its aggressive look. Read – Upcoming MG Cars in India

MG X Motion Details

Other design highlights include integrated roof bars, muscular fenders, oval exhaust pipes and sporty taillamp assembly. In terms of dimensions, the MG X-Motion will be bigger than the GS. As of now, the interior details of the SUV are scanty as the carmaker hasn’t revealed its cabin. Besides the platform, the X Motion SUV sources its powertrain from the RX8. The company has confirmed that the SUV will make use of the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit. This motor makes a top power of 221bhp and 360.6Nm (266lbf/ft) of torque. For transmission duties, there will be a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will be available with both two-wheel-drive (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

MG X Motion Launch

Just so you know, MG Motor recently announced its plans for the Indian market. With an initial investment of Rs 2,000 crore, the company established its first manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat. Initially, it will produce 80,000 units on annual basis. The carmaker aims to make a total investment of Rs 5000 crore over the next six years in the country.

MG India also confirmed that its first vehicle will be a SUV that hit roads in the second quarter of 2019. Rumor has that it could the ZS or GS SUV. The company aims to achieve localization level up to 80% for its first product that will help it achieving aggressive pricing.
